alucard
The Wary Magician - In Progress

Alucard Emery
[personal profile] strungShades of Magic
Alucard is a rare and sly Paladin, a man who surrounds himself with lies and truth in equal measure. A powerful magician with a sense of justice, despite his way with words. I sense he has much to hide, and a heart that fears true connection. I hope my friendship allows him some respite from his constant social vigilance. He also has a beautiful cat.
1. While obtaining my tattoo, I met a man who held some suspicion over the process. While he did not speak much of himself, he was a fellow Paladin and treated me to a drink in celebration of restoring my Oath of Devotion. He taught me how to play a game called 'two truths and a lie,' which is a game that invokes duplicity as a way of getting to know ones comrades. It is a strange game with pitfalls and more strategy than I expected. However, I learned that he speaks five languages and is a powerful sorceror in his home. This game's value is legitimate, perhaps he is simply the kind of person who has difficulty speaking of his motives. Despite being a skilled liar, I believe he is a good person. We had a pleasant time, and I feel I made a friend in Alucard. We shall have to meet for drinks again.
2. I encountered Alucard once more, while successfully completing a quest to consume some very spicy squid. Despite my having already won the prize on behalf of the Paladins, Alucard insisted on giving the challenge a try. He is determined, and relentless besides. I feel a great sense of camaraderie from Alucard. He went as far as saying that I am his favorite person here. He is a good friend. And he has evidently named me as the godfather to his cat.
3. As is my usual, I made the rounds across the Royal Fortune and woke Alucard in time for the calling of rolls. It seemed he had imbibed copiously the previous night, but a simple use of Lesser Restoration restored his facilities to their usual. He is an interesting one, but no less a man worth knowing. I have not asked how he feels now that his magic seems to have been returned to him, but perhaps I shall inquire at a later date.
4. Alucard and I have become quite good friends in our time among the Paladins. He appears to be the teasing sort, though I am not unsurprised. With his aid, I was able to corner a seahorse on a quest and tame the creature. With his magic on full display, his skills are quite impressive. They operate differently from magic in my own world. I shall have to ask him about this one day. I also know from Astarion that he and Alucard had some kind of... issue when they first met. I have yet to ask about this, but I do wonder.
astarion
The Kind-Hearted Vampire - In Progress

Astarion A.
[personal profile] subigitoBaldur's Gate III
Astarion is a very particular person. Freedom of choice is paramount, as is allowing him space and privacy to be himself. I have noted that the following rules must be followed when conversing with him: no pity, no personal questions, no meal offerings. These topics cause him distress due to his trauma. He is mercurial at times, but patience and quiet empathy have allowed me to gain some semblance of understanding into his way of thinking. As a fellow undead, we share a rare kinship that I feel draws me to him.
1. I met a strange vampire, one who walks in the sun and feeds on animals and carrion, rather than other beings. I aided him in his hunt for a meal after killing the creature he had intended to feed from. His name is Astarion. He hides his vampiric nature for his own safety, which I cannot fault. It is a secret I have sworn to protect, as well as I am able. His affliction was forced upon him some 200 years ago, and it is only through a recent infection of a mindflayer tadpole that he was freed from his cruel master's thrall. Impossible though it may sound, I believe him. He shows no signs of ceremorphosis, nor any desire to consume human blood, much less brains. He is kind, despite all he has suffered, though he does not see it. It is my hope that I can foster that kindness in him, that he may see his potential fulfilled.
2. I sought out Astarion in the Minstrel and Cask tavern, as he is a lively sort. Knowing that his food sources are limited here, it was my intent to ascertain his health. Alas, my presence interrupted his plans for the evening, as he was in the process of seducing a sexual partner. As penance for my trespass I agreed to remain with him and joined him for wine. It was surprisingly pleasant, despite my distaste for alcoholic beverages. We spoke of my curse, my purpose, and my inability to sing. He believes this place may be "a chance to live a little," which is ridiculous. I cannot live more or less. Despite this, I believe we have become friends through our shared curses and afflictions as men trapped between life and death.
3. I joined Astarion on a quest to hunt slugs for their medicinal slime. Despite being a rogue, Astarion is efficient in battle and is not content to merely sit aside and let others fight for him. Sporting a minor injury after the battle, I decided to allow Astarion to taste my blood, to prove my theory on its necrotic flavor. I was correct, though the flavor was decidedly regrettable, according to him. I feel in many ways that I do not understand him, but I trust him, and I am pleased to have confirmed that he shares this same trust in me. I swore I would not use my magic to impose my will on him, ever. This seems to have brought us closer. We spoke on things like silk sheets, sex, and the inevitable monotony of our endless existence. I should like to see his potential for good realized.
I also realized I have romantic feelings for him, and we had sex soon after. He asked that we stop before I could reciprocate, which I respected. Despite our many differences, I feel that I have made a true friend in him, and I learned that the feeling is mutual. It need not be more than that, so I will see that this does not change. I hope I am able to continue to support his growth, as his friend.
4. As the month drew to its close, we learned that the Paladins and Corsairs were to depart from Eltrut and would likely not work alongside one another for some time. Being that we are in different Armadas, this meant we would not see each other for some time. Having sent him a letter to that effect, Astarion agreed to join me in one of the many games the combined Armadas had organized before our inevitable leave.
Though I was not victorious, the games were engaging, and Astarion showed true mettle in his mastery of his craft. His victory assured, Astarion invited me for one last drink, to see each other off. The drink was good, but better was the conversation. I learned of Cazador, Astarion's evil sire, and spoke of my own past in becoming a paladin. I shared the story of Edgin Darvis, the bard that helped save Neverwinter, and learned that Alucard and Astarion have had some manner of problem that Astarion does not wish to discuss. We also spoke of Astarion's leader, who is kindhearted and gentle, though evidently a thief as well. They seem a kind person. I should hope to meet them and the rest of Astarion's party upon our return to Faerun. However, in truth, the greatest victory of the night was to hear Astarion admit that I inspired him to be kinder, and more honest, as so few have been kind and honest to him. It warms me to think that I may help him see that he has a choice to be kind. It seems his leader, who I suspect Astarion cares for, would agree with me. I do hope we are able to meet, when all is said and done.
5. I was out halting thefts when I ran into Astarion. Though we have known each other for only a month, I do not feel it hyperbole to say that I missed him. We agreed to meet after our respective missions for a walk by the boardwalk, where we enjoyed the light of the moon. As is my usual, I fumbled my way through much of the conversation, but Astarion is patient with me. He trusts me. Enough that he shared with me the troubles he's faced in seeking food, and how he yearns for human blood, after having grown accustomed to it from his enemies, or willing leader. Alas, if only I did not bear this curse. My blood and its vile taste will not aid him, but neither is Astarion wishing to be aided. Independence is important to him. While it pains me to be unable to do more, I was deeply touched by the fact that he shared his concerns with me. It is heartening to know that he would rather face my blade than harm an innocent and lose control of himself.
Things grew heated after I apologized for making undue assumptions towards him, so we retreated to a nearby inn to engage in sex. As my Oath decrees that I must punish Astarion for his theft, we engaged in what I believe is called "role play" where I was to be his pardoner and absolver. Unfortunately, at some point I mistakenly did or said something that made Astarion grow uncomfortable, so I broke character to focus on his care. Following this, we took a bath together, as I wished to show him that we could be intimate without necessarily engaging in sex. It was the most wonderful night I've had in my long life, I'll not lie. I know in my heart that I love him, as a dear friend and lover both. As we are both immortal beings, I hope we can continue to grow closer and rely on each other while we are here, despite our many differences.

The Turbulent Thief - In Progress

Unnamed Woman
[personal profile] garudasFinal Fantasy XVI
1. A curious woman possessed of powerful magic. She attempted to seduce and bargain with me in her attempts to steal the artifacts which we were tasked with obtaining. Staying true to my duty, I did not waver. I was forced to Dispel her magic in order to calm her and reclaim that which she stole. She seemed truly angry with me for this, though I bear her no ill will. Perhaps if we meet again, under better circumstances, she may see reason.

cid
The Thunderous Rogue - In Progress

Cid Telamon
[personal profile] ramuhsFinal Fantasy XVI
1. I worked alongside Cid Telamon for a mission which was a collaboration between Paladins and Corsairs. Our goal was to eliminate the threat of the cult which is known as PRESTA, a strange cult which reveres vegetables, and takes direct affront to the existence of candies and sweets. A strange charge by far, but cults are not known for their sense. Throughout the mission, Cid acted showed incredible skill in improvisation and leadership, the likes of which moved the cultists to his side. Had I been alone, the quest would no doubt have ended in bloodshed. His aid is instrumental, and I was quite moved by his skills.

The Gentle Elf - In Progress

Fenris
[personal profile] unshodDragon Age
1. I met an elf named Fenris, who bore scars and marks throughout much of his body. I did not pry, nor will I assume their origin, but I can only assume he is the victim of some manner of injustice. He seemed wary, but such caution is to be expected when one grows accustomed to a life of uncertainty. I assisted in reuniting him with his valuables, then escorted him to the Microshell storefront, where one is able to obtain a "shellphone." I suspect he is illiterate, which I hope is not a hindrance to him here. His home world, Thedas, sounds somewhat similar to Faerûn, though perhaps more sinister. I should very much like to meet the friend he speaks of, who saved his home but was wrongly accused of the blame.

jarlaxle
The Flamboyant Collector - In Progress

Jarlaxle Bearne
[personal profile] acheatForgotten Realms
1. I met the drow, Jarlaxle, amidst a fight that had erupted at the Minstrel and Cask. Though I caught him thieving, his claim was that his theft was for the greater good -- to remove any chance of the fight turning bloody, he would remove the patrons' weapons from where they had stashed them. As this was his intent, he likewise agreed to hide the stolen belongings near enough to the inn that the patrons might reclaim them in the morning, with cooled heads. His crime diverted, I agreed to aid the man in reclaiming his own missing goods; the belongings which this land had parted him from. He claims he is a collector of various magical artefacts, many of which would be dangerous in unskilled or unworthy hands. It remains to be seen if his own hands be worthy of such dangerous booty, but I am willing to provide him clemency for his truthfulness.
2. Jarlaxle invited me to spend time together, and showed me how to draw the most curious faces using our shellphone's text features. They look somewhat like this: (´。• ω •。`) It seems he wished to explore Nautilust, an island of wordly pleasures. Naturally, there is no tenet in my oath that is opposed to the responsible practice of sex work. I was happy to join him, and he wished to help me indulge in some new experiences. Of course, indulgence is frowned upon by my Oath of Devotion, because such actions often lead to irresponsibility and regret. Thus, I placed my trust in Jarlaxle and agreed to drink until becoming intoxicated, so long as he remained responsible and oversaw my actions. It was a pleasant evening, though much of it is abstract in my memories.
3. They have sex!!!! I'll add more later.

tifa
The Kindly Paladin - In Progress

Tifa Lockhart
[personal profile] starshowerFinal Fantasy VII
1. One of the many responses I received to my anonymous letters, Tifa revealed herself to be a fellow Paladin, and was patient in my questions despite their simplicity. She is better versed at friendships than myself, so I hope to benefit from her insight and to foster a bond of camraderie with her, as we are fellow Paladins.
2. Tifa joined me on Nogard for a quest during which we were meant to infiltrate a fine atelier known for its fine silks and gowns, which is suspected to be providing cover for a smuggling operation. Despite the severity of the work, it was pleasant as ever to converse with her and share our thoughts on these strange circumstances we find ourselves in. It seems she may also have friends in the Corsairs. Her work in accentuating my eyes with gold eyeliner was masterfully done. I hope we can grow to become good friends.
toge
The Silent Boy - In Progress

Toge Inumaki
[personal profile] cursedwordsJujutsu Kaisen
1. Having seemingly appeared in the middle of the ocean, I saved Toge from drowning and pulled him aboard the Royal Fortune. The boy speaks only in strange utterances of fish and food I do not recognize. He told me bears a curse upon his speech, which makes his words compel others regardless of his own intent. Though we are severed from our magic upon arrival, he may wish to avoid regaining his abilities, with a price so great. He would have my support regardless.
turo
The Pokémon Professor - In Progress

Professor Turo
[personal profile] fractalesPokémon Scarlet/Violent
1. A scholar from a distant land, I met Professor Turo at the Tattoo Parlor, where we discussed theories on the inner workings of this world's magic. He told me of the creatures in his world, called pokémon, who roam their lands and control the various elements. They sound akin to gods, though in his account they are closers to beasts than man. If the Leviathans should be akin to such beasts, he may be well-suited for unraveling the secrets of this strange land.
