You remember what happened, as well? Do you remember the other dream in the manor I served at as a human, where you were inexplicably there?

They were both quite disconcerting.

[Two things Elias fears are apparently: Xenk, and Xenk as a squishy human. For some reason.]

I don't understand why that would happen. I didn't think you being pathetic was a concept even possible any more.

I do remember. It seems my presence in your dream caused you undue stress. Rest assured, it was not my intention to.

Your high esteem of me is gratifying. I too was human once, and prone to their weaknessese. The display you saw did not occur—I fear I must stress this. My maker was a great many, terrible things, but he was not one to attack his own novice. I would not do so to my own novice, nor to you.

I have ever believed myself to be strict, not cruel.

If I remember correctly you said your Maker was part of a great legacy that should not be disrespected. Would a simple dream threaten that?

Are you very stressed by soliciting your Blue Court novice that you are unduly rattled? Perhaps you should get some rest.

Besides, violence against one's novice outside of the classroom is not allowed. “Such violence undermines the dignity of the Gold Court and is to be avoided” (Introduction to Gold Court Principles p.56).

I truly appreciate your words of comfort. You are correct that a dream cannot tarnish a legacy that goes back centuries. Your cited rule has heartened my spirits.

[ He doesn't say "Perhaps I was wrong about you," but damn if his heart didn't leap with pride to see Elias quoting the rules at him. What a good boy. ]

I fear these dreams have made for restless nights. Perhaps, as you say, the stress has taken its toll upon my own subconscious mind.

I hope that you are able to find rest, and that our dreams do not coincide further.

[uuuuuuhhhh seeing his former Maker give words of apparent approval is still weird. It’s been a few weeks since they started being “on speaking terms”, but despite all that time, it’s like Elias’ clothes suddenly start prickling all at once from how weird it is. He hadn’t thought much of that quote; Ex-Master-Yendar had quizzed him a lot on the texts as a novice, it was the only thing he was much good at, and he’d figured some familiarity from the texts the guy clearly values might have a calming effect.

His procrastination on coming to see Xenk as a fellow vampire capable of making mistakes, and not “mean guy who HATES me but that’s ok it’s because I’m a loser”, is now biting him in the ass.]

I ask that you forget the vision of me you saw in the dreams as well. My days as a human are something the undying courts bid me to leave behind.
